Overview
The Registered Respiratory Therapist II provides patient assessment and patient care for all pulmonary patients at BronxCare Health System. This key clinical position supports the efforts of the cardiopulmonary physicians and staff providing respiratory care. Respiratory Therapist will perform and complete various treatments, therapies and diagnostic procedures as prescribed by the physician.
Responsibilities
Prepares, initiates, monitors and adjusts parameters on Invasive and Non-invasive Mechanical Ventilator.
Assesses patients and administers therapies, including but not limited to oxygen therapy, airway clearance, nebulizer treatment and monitors effectiveness of therapies
Administered Inhaled Nitric Oxide in-line other Respiratory modalities
Performs Clinical and Technical procedures to ensure successful outcomes including simple pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas draw and analysis and airway clearance
Maintains inventory of respiratory care equipment and supplies
Monitors and maintains medical gas systems and storage
Function effectively as a part of the multidisciplinary patient care team
Assists with intubations, secures and manage airways and respond to cardiopulmonary medical emergencies.
Reviews all information contained in patient medical record and ensures that policies are followed.
Provide care for All Age Group (Neonate, Pediatric and Adult)
Perform patient transport
Qualifications
Associate degree required from an accredited respiratory therapy program
New York State Respiratory Therapist license
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BCLS)
Membership in the AARC preferred
FDNY Certificate of Fitness G71
