Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to lead our client's financial operations and drive strategic initiatives. This pivotal role oversees all aspects of accounting, with a strong emphasis on accounts payable management. This role will lead a team of six direct reports, collaborate with external accounting partners, and ensure the efficiency and accuracy of financial processes, including job costing, financial close, and vendor management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all accounting functions, with a focus on accounts payable (AP), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in vendor payments and reconciliation.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of six accounting and administrative professionals, fostering professional growth and operational excellence.

  • Oversee the full-cycle AP process, including invoice processing, PO management, and vendor relationships, while maintaining robust internal controls.

  • Collaborate with external accounting firms to ensure accurate reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance.

  • Apply GAAP knowledge and experience to manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes, ensuring detailed reconciliations and precise financial reporting.

  • Develop and implement effective job costing systems to monitor and evaluate project profitability.

  • Maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships, ensuring timely issuance and management of purchase orders.

  • Provide strategic financial insights to support business planning and decision-making.

  • Monitor and manage cash flow, budgets, and financial forecasts to align with company goals.

  • Continuously enhance accounting systems, policies, and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience in F&A, solid knowledge of GAAP, superior people leadership skills, Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and/or equivalent experience

  • Extensive experience in accounts payable management, including process optimization and team oversight.

  • Proven track record in similar role with strong leadership skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Expertise in financial close processes, job costing, and collaboration with external accounting firms.

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal teams, vendors, and external partners.
