Police Officer

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Responsible for enforcing the law and order in the City. Patrols the community to prevent violations, responds to service calls, makes arrests, handles emergency situations, and investigates crime scenes and traffic accidents. May gather information for investigations. Independent judgment is used according to the situation and sometimes different courses of action must be taken to complete the task.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma (or GED) required, with some police science experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Valid drivers license required. Must possess knowledge and proficiency in the operation of personal computers. Successful completion of Police Academy training and Field Officer training required. Must maintain the required level of proficiency and certification in the use of firearms and evasive action/driving skills. Must complete additional training and course work as required
