RIG Consulting Certification Welding Inspector (CWI) in Bristol, Pennsylvania

RIG Consulting Inc. is currently seeking a Certified Welding Inspector.  This position provides quality assurance inspection for welded fabricated structural steel and aluminum. This position is located in Bristol PA and is a LONG-TERM PROJECT.

Hourly rate starting at approximately $29/hr.-$35/hr depending on qualifications, education, and certifications. RIG offers several additional benefits, such as a Night Shift Incentive and a Long-Distance Drive Incentive that can add additional earnings to your pay.

Primary Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures fabrication is performed in accordance with the fabricator's Quality Control plan, contract requirements and Department specifications.

  • Reviews regular shop fabrication practices including fit-up, welding and use of approved welding procedures, surface preparation and application of coatings, member assembly and bolting and non- destructive testing.

  • Work may involve outlining procedures for subordinate inspectors

  • Reviewing and monitoring work and test results

  • Interpreting specifications and determining procedures where standard operations cannot be used.

  • Inspection is performed with considerable independence but is reviewed, supervised and managed by the Supervisor and Civil Engineer

  • Maintains both handwritten and electronic records of inspection and test data for the Structural Materials Section of the Bridge Design and Technology Division.

  • Must be computer literate

    Essential Functions:

  • Travel across various types of terrain

  • Read, write and speak clearly

  • Input/retrieve information utilizing electronic devices and a variety of software systems

  • Maneuver safely around moving traffic and equipment

  • React immediately to hazard warning devices, such as signs, sirens, and alarms

  • Use required protective equipment and be responsible for it's care, storage, and maintenance

  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, and climb; lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Withstand periods of heavy exertion

  • Travel to inspection sites

  • Tolerate exposure to noise, outdoors, adverse weather conditions, various plants and insects, and chemicals within Safety Date Sheet (SDS) limits

  • Work extended hours in excess of eight hours per shift seasonally and/or be on call beyond normal business hours

    Requirements:

  • CWI Certification-must maintain a valid certified welding inspector (CWI) certificate issued by the American Welding Society

  • Candidates must have a minimum of three years' experience in inspection and/or quality assurance/quality control in structural and aluminum fabrication.

  • GED or high school diploma required.

  • Must have knowledge of the standards, codes and specifications required in the field of structural steel and aluminum fabrication to meet current PA Department of Transportation Specifications.

  • Inspectors assigned to witness non-destructive testing must be, at a minimum, qualified to a level comparable to that of ASNT SNT-TC-1a 2016 Level I for experience with training hours of Level I & II combined in the appropriate methods of NDT (including but not limited to PT, MT, UT and RT Interpretation) for the shops which they are assigned.

  • Must have ability to read and interpret shop drawings, specifications and other technical information.

  • Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both speaking and writing.

  • Effectively use a personal portable computer including the use of Microsoft Word, Access and Excel. Ability to operate a digital camera, utilize e-mail, (including attachment of photographs, documents etc.) and the internet.

Preferred Certifications

  • ASNT SNT-TC-1a 2016 Level 1

  • NDT, (PT, MT, UT & RT)

  • UT, MP, AMPP or NACE.
