Job Description
The function of the Natural Resource Steward is to further Recreation Division's resource stewardship in Southeast Michigan state parks and recreation areas. Recreation Division's mission is to "…acquire, protect, and preserve the natural, historic and cultural features of Michigan’s unique resources…" This position coordinates a volunteer stewardship program to implement habitat restoration and protection in southeast Michigan by means of recruiting, training, orienting and leading volunteers.

Position will require obtaining a pesticide applicator certificate. The position requires working in all weather conditions and in areas with insects

Possession of a bachelor's degree in a physical, biological, or natural resource science, resource management, resource planning, engineering, or a related field.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
