Summary
This position is responsible for transitioning new associates into the production environment during their initial skills training period through personal "coaching" and remedial and supplemental training related to the new associate's specific departmental assignment.
The primary purpose of this position is to guarantee that the training steps are fully implemented for new hires and that progress is being measured and communicated to the associates against an expected progression.
This position also assists associates in learning plant procedures, proper job functions, safe work habits, rotation procedures, and appropriate food safety measures.
This position will also develop or modify new training material throughout their operations.
2nd Shift position, though first three months require training on 1st Shift.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Bilingual : Translate documents and evaluations between Spanish and English.
Introduce associates to the production environment by conducting plant tours and basic departmental training, explaining production line procedures and safe work practices, proper use of safety equipment, good donning/doffing practices, GMPs, and clock-in/clock-out procedures.
Mentor associates continually during the training period by providing on-the-job coaching, attention, and familiarization with departmental procedures.
Evaluate associates in training for following proper procedures, reinforce training by giving associates continuous feedback on strengths/weaknesses, and encourage retention in the company to associates repeatedly during the training period.
Review associate job performance and transition into the production environment with the department supervisor weekly using training work log notes.
Facilitate the transition of associates into departmental work teams by helping them succeed in their position.
Maintain a skill level at or above the required certification level for all positions in the department assigned and adhere to all safety requirements.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High School or equivalent not required but beneficial.
Bilingual: Spanish/English translations.
Experience Preferred
- Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Ability to work for 8 hours or more in a stationary position or travel on wet, moist, dry, and slippery floors, including metal or plastic grating surfaces, with up to 4 hours in a single interval.
Ability to work from various types of ladders and stairs.
Exposure to and work in temperatures of less than -40 and 75 degrees with ambient humidity—noise exposure of 110 dB, and light intensity range of 50 to 100-foot candles.
Bending, twisting, lifting to 50 lbs., reaching, sitting, and grasping vary in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, heights, the most extended interval of time, objects grabbed, and body positions depending upon the maintenance task required. Exposure to chlorinated water (50 ppm, ammonia vapors), five ppm, dry ice, caustic detergents, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, and other chemicals found in a poultry processing plant.
Must use and wear protective and safety equipment required for the job.
