The Associate Director, U.S. Communications, is responsible for planning and managing external and internal communications for the U.S. Autoimmune Type 1 Diabetes franchise, including current and future brands. The position reports to the Head of U.S. General Medicines and sits in the Corporate Affairs organization.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Serve as communications lead for all marketed products, their current indications, and those in development in the U.S. portfolio

  • Develop and manage comprehensive communication strategies and tactical execution plans to support the business unit and brand priorities across internal and external owned and earned channels, including media relations

  • Develop and implement internal engagement plans for the franchise leadership to effectively engage with internal teams/stakeholders

  • Provide strategic leadership in the creation and implementation of impactful communication programs, internally and externally, across brand areas. This may include disease awareness/brand integration programs; branded communication activity; digital communications; new product entries; award submissions

  • Strong working knowledge of the overall digital and social media landscape with the ability to deliver innovative approaches

  • Direct and deliver effective executive communications and thought leadership connected to Sanofi, brand, industry or disease state milestones

  • Manage public relations agency and associated budget

  • Liaise and partner with U.S. and global colleagues across Corporate Affairs including State Government Relations, Federal Government Relations, Communications and Public Affairs and Patient Advocacy, Policy and Reimbursement and Global Media Relations to ensure aligned messaging and positioning to all key stakeholders

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business Administration or Journalism

  • Strong issues management capabilities

  • Ability to research, develop, deliver and measure communications strategies and plans driving actionable insights to internal and external audiences

  • Ability to collaborate in a heavy matrix environment

  • Experience in internal and external communications

  • Pharmaceutical product PR communications background

  • Ability to counsel and interface successfully with senior executives and communications peers, including leadership

  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to interact with confidence with various levels and functions

  • Understanding of the FDA approvals process with experience in product and new indication launches

  • Experience with HCP and consumer influencers preferred

  • 6-8 years of communications experience in the pharmaceuticals/biotech area.
