Summary:

Leads a team of clinical and non-clinical staff in patient care. Coordinates work of clinical staff and expedites flow.

Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical advice and supervision of the clinical team members. Supports and advises on efficient clinical practice of clinical team members ensuring appropriate skill mix to promote the highest standard of service.

• Assists people who use the services to evaluate their health outcomes and adjust clinical practices to ensure optimum co-ordination and delivery of care. Reviews and recommends alterations in prescribed clinical options along agreed protocol driven guidelines.

• Coordinates activities of staff, ensuring efficient and quality patient care, to include but not limited to supply inventory, maintaining files and correspondence, etc. Expedites clinic work flow. Provides appropriate feedback on performance and offers coaching when needed; communicates with Practice Manager on performance issues/concerns. Assist in coordinating daily staffing to ensure that all shifts are covered.

• Involved in the interview process of employees along with counseling records with employees (verbal, written, probation/suspension, etc.). Monitor, evaluate, and correct staff performance relating to care/clinical practice.

• Approves time off requests for employees and ensuring all physicians are staffed appropriately. Identifies the training needs of staff and facilitate how to appropriately meet those needs. Is responsible for being flexible and filling in wherever needed when the need arises.

• Interacts efficiently and courteously with team members, physicians, visitors and other customers, both in person and by phone. Provides leadership, supervision and support to clinical team members in the provision of clinical/care support services in a professional manner and acts as a resource and role model for staff. Develops and maintains good collaborative working relationships and channels of communication with other clinics, supervisors, and departments within Pardee. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures.

• Maintains work area and equipment (i.e. pyxis, casting room) in a neat and orderly manner; assists in cleaning and organizing of department on own initiative; reports any malfunctioning equipment. Checks for expired items and discards according to policy and procedure. Assists in maintaining and organizing medications and samples per office policy.

• Introduces ongoing learning strategies into services, including tutorials, instructional sessions, and supervised practice sessions, regarding the use of medical/care equipment or best clinical care skills. Verifies receipt of purchases.

• Works as a certified medical assistant in the clinic to ensure clinical flow goes smoothly. Assists the provider(s) with direct patient care including preparing patients for exams and competently performing procedures as directed bythe provider. Completes all medical visit documentation and forms in a timely manner. Competently uses email, scheduling, and EMR systems. Notifies patients of test and lab results, schedules follow-up appointments and assists patients with referral appointments as needed. Collects and accurately prepares specimens and competently performs waived lab tests. Obtains and tracks lab and referral results to ensure all results are reported to the provider in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Medical Assistant certification or registration required (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA or NCCT NCMA)

• Two (2) years of experience work in a medical office/clinic

• One (1) year of experience providing direct patient care, such as medical assistant or nursing assistant

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Leadership experience
