HCA Healthcare Director of Physician Resource Group in Brentwood, Tennessee

This position is incentive eligible.

Introduction

The primary responsibilities of the Director of Physician Resource Group (PRG) for Anesthesia Services :

  • Support the company, enterprise-wide, by providing expert advisory and consultative services in the Hospital Based specialty of Anesthesia.

  • Work effectively in a matrixed organization with emphasis on collaboration with team members that bolters the effectiveness of PRG in serving HCA facilities.

  • Assist in engagement planning and execution for Assessments, Negotiations, and RFPs.

  • Structure anesthesia coverage models for HCA’s facilities and manage contract negotiations with preferred partners and ensure Professional Services Agreements are consistent with company standards.

  • Support development of enterprise-wide initiatives and OR assessments that serve to mitigate expense pressures and increase operational effectiveness.

  • Communicate regularly for operating reports MORs with the Division Presidents, Division CFOs and the Divisions’ hospitals’ CEOs.

  • Ensure all internal approvals are achieved prior to contract execution (e.g. FMV, business case approval, etc.).

  • Collaborate with other cross-functional organizations (GME / OSG / Development) when necessary to advance company goals.

Job Summary and Qualifications

  • Works effectively with third party stakeholders and vendor partners, serving as liaison to hospital CEOs and Division Leadership to meet the anesthesia needs of the facility and HCA

  • Assists third party stakeholders and HCA facilities / Divisions with quality, operational, and financial issues that arise related to their anesthesia contract.

  • Reviews all subsidy requests to ensure financial viability of the program

  • Initiates OR utilization and efficiency assessments with a clinical dyad assessing staffing, block time, etc.

  • Keeps lines of communication open between Division Leadership and HBP partner/vendor.

  • Works with partner/vendor to ensure timeliness, accuracy and completeness of all other financial reports to meet specified deadlines.

  • Assists partner/vendor operations team with implementation of new program start-ups.

  • Works with Division Leadership and partner/vendor to develop models to assess ability of new ventures to meet HCA enterprise financial and operational goals.

  • Evaluates financial performance to budget and prior period trends and understands causes of variances.

  • Participates in partner/vendor assessments and evaluations as well as contract revenue reconciliations at Facility or Division level. Serves as liaison between facilities and valuation firms during the FMV process

  • Works alongside contract creators and internal operations counsel to draft complex financial agreements related to the anesthesia coverage provided at an HCA facility.

  • Ensures programs adhere to the HCA “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.

  • Values teamwork and collaboration when interaction with internal and external stakeholders

  • Ensures compliance with and knowledge of the company’s Code of Conduct by all subordinates to ensure an ethical work environment.

  • Willing to travel overnight up to 25%

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or Nursing is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Healthcare, preferably in Hospital Based physician services and/or healthcare consulting.

  • Familiarity with anesthesia operations preferred but not required

  • Strong executive presence, project management and negotiation skills, and financial acumen are required, as this position interfaces with company executives on a daily basis, and the individual will be assigned independently to projects after the first six months in the role.
