Job Summary and Qualifications
Under a combination of administrative and executive direction, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Hospital Based Physician Services (HBP) provides leadership and directs the overall financial operation of HBP Service Lines consistent with policies and objectives established by Clinical Services Group and HCA Healthcare leadership. The HBP CFO plans, organizes, applies, directs, controls and evaluates all financial resources, systems, and assets invested in the service lines. The HBP CFO uses all resources to generate measurable returns and actively leads HBP strategy deployment to establish HCA as a premier clinical organization.
· Provides overall financial leadership and direction for the Hospital Based Physician Service lines under Clinical Services Group including intensive care, anesthesia, pathology, physician resource team, laboratory services and joint venture managed for the enterprise. HBP excluding Lab Services represents $350M in net revenue management.
o Forward Pathology Solutions- one of the country’s largest groups of pathologists providing pathology services at 110 facilities with 200+ providers.
o Physician Resource Team- internal consulting team of HBP subject matter experts with responsibility for providing hospitals with quality, operations, and subsidy/cost recommendations. Averaging 100+ engagements and over $100M in cost savings/avoidance annually.
o Anesthesia Services- growing line of business employing anesthesiology providers (800+ providers and growing) servicing 30 hospital sites, projected to grow to 1500 providers in 2024.
o Intensive Care Consortium- the country’s largest provider of Intensivist services with 375+ providers providing patient car at 1,566 ICU beds in 51 hospitals.
o Laboratory Services- supporting lab centralization and standardization model across organization including management operations of 14 central lab, 177 hospital laboratories, and 150 free standing emergency labs
· Builds and manages the financial infrastructure for the HBP Service Lines in support of rapidly expanding lines of business within HCA and in an industry experiencing both significant growth and consolidation. Direct reports include individual service line CFO’s and Controller III and 15 financial staff.
· Acts as the Service Lines Chief Financial spokesperson and oversees all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost analysis, and forecasting.
· Oversees services performed for HBP by other HCA Groups such as Information Technology and Revenue Cycle Management.
· Collaborates with the HBP President and the CSG CFO in the development of long and short range strategic plans which includes service demand analyses, resources availability analyses, and cost benefit analyses of proposed capital and staff expansions.
· Leads the development of Service Line, Division, and Market Level budgets.
· Monitors, interprets, and analyzes financial performance in realizing established plans and objectives for all HBP & Lab Operations.
· Prepares and presents monthly operating review documents to Hospital, Division, PSG, and Corporate leadership as necessary.
· Directs the preparation of all financial analytics for all markets and locations that reliably reflects the financial position of the service line.
· Collaborates with Payer Contracting & Alignment team on HBP payer agreements
· Builds strategic alliances internally and outside the organization to create business opportunities and execute business strategies.
· Key stakeholders include CSG CFO, Division CFOs and Controllers
· Identifies and reports undesirable trends and potential business opportunities and makes recommendations for action.
· Analyzes and explores means of reducing operating costs and increasing revenues based on knowledge of market trends, financial reports and operating procedures.
· Trains the field Financial Staff in raising awareness and knowledge of financial matters, policies, and procedures with Operations staff
· Ensures Business Continuity
· Understands and evaluates the changing impact of regulatory climate including Health Care Reform legislation and HIPAA, as it pertains to the urgent care sector.
· Builds a competitively superior organization by attracting, developing, and retaining talent to ensure that people with the right skills and motivations are in the right places at the right time to meet business needs.

EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles – required .
· Master’s degree, in a business or healthcare related discipline – preferred .
EXPERIENCE :
· Candidate must possess at least seven years practice/healthcare financial senior management experience. Knowledge of financial management, analysis, principles, techniques and managerial skills.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
· CPA preferred
