Outreach Development Corporation Client Benefits Associate in Brentwood, New York

Summary of Position:

The Client Benefit Associate will be responsible for the accurate collection and tracking of information related to the client’s/family’s financial information, participation and/or qualification for Medicaid benefits and/or other insurance, and, overall, for ensuring that the agency maximizes third party revenue utilizing a realistic and fair fee structure that takes into account the individual’s ability to pay.

Job Specific Criteria:

  • Ensure that all appropriate insurance, Medicaid and financial information is collected from each client and/or the parent/guardian of adolescent clients.

  • Review financial materials collected and complete the financial section of client’s chart including in the case of self-pay clients, setting fee based on income and sliding scale and client’s ability to pay.

  • Contact client/potential client to clarify any questions related to the client’s financial data and arrange for a face to face meeting, if appropriate.

  • Monitor clients with Medicaid-pending to ensure follow through with application process and enter any updated information about Medicaid status.

  • Individually meet with clients with an outstanding balance to ensure collection of appropriate payments.

  • Appropriately document all activity with the client and information related to payments, insurance and Medicaid in the client’s chart and/or in the agency’s billing system.

  • Work closely with the agency’s insurance specialists on any insurance related matters, such as denials or authorizations.

  • Send invoices to clients with outstanding balances for payment on a monthly basis.

  • Post payments to clients’ accounts that come through the mail as well as payments that are processed through credit cards.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum of High School Diploma required. Some college preferred. Bi-lingual preferred. Knowledgeable in all aspects of billing and collection functions. Must have experience in working with Medicaid and 3rd party insurance plans. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel as well as Fundware or some other accounting software program.
