CNC Lathe Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled lathe machinist for a day shift position (7am-3:30pm) at an aerospace company in Brea, CA. The pay is based on experience, ideally between $28-$35 an hour, with potential for a higher rate for the right candidate. As a lathe machinist, you will be a crucial part of the manufacturing team, ensuring the production of quality parts on time, following standard guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast labor hours involved in producing a part and plan the production sequence for completion.

  • Check the program and determine necessary tooling to produce parts.

  • Set up the appropriate lathe machines and produce the blueprinted part or transfer responsibility to other lathe operators as directed.

  • Complete work thoroughly and accurately in a timely manner, meeting productivity standards.

  • Bring your own basic shop tools.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Experience with Haas machines and 5-axis lathe machines.

  • Proficiency in setting up and operating lathe machines, with programming skills as a plus.

  • Knowledge of inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.

  • 4-5 years of prior experience working on mill machines.

  • Experience with lathe machine programming and operation (5-axis lathe preferred).

  • Setup experience required.

  • Understanding of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and calibration concepts/techniques.

  • Basic computer and standard operating systems knowledge.

Work Environment

First shift from 7am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Work in the Aerospace Manufacturing, Machine Parts Division. The environment includes working with advanced lathe machines and requires adherence to safety and quality standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brea, California.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00
