Overview
Brattleboro DCF is recruiting for a temporary part-time Family Services Worker. This position is multifaceted in that it will primarily be working with our Resource Coordinator but could also include more traditional Family Services Worker duties. The focus of the work will include recruiting, retaining and supporting foster parents. Supporting foster parents includes monthly phone contacts and quarterly home visits for foster parents who have children placed in their homes. In addition, this position entails screening all foster parent applicants, conducting home visits for District Level approvals, data entry, planning and participating in foster parent support groups.
Other Family Services Worker tasks include transporting children to visits with their parents, monitoring the contact with their parents, or carrying a couple of low level cases if the need arises.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in a variety of setting ranging from departmental offices, client homes, courtrooms or alternative staffing sites. Considerable field travel is required, for which private means of transportation must be available.
Crisis situations may arise at any hour and may require evening or weekend responses. Incumbents predictably encounter high levels of stress and emotional situations, strong differences of opinion, and potentially exposure to physical danger. Class incumbents may be required to be on available or standby status during night, weekend, and holiday hours.
