Assistant or Associate Professor; Tenure Track Bowling Green State University Salary: Depends on Qualifications Job Type: Full-Time Faculty Division: Col of Health & Human Services Opening Date: 02/12/2025 Location: Main Campus (BG), OH Job Number: BGSU00702 Department: Col of Health & Human Services Closing: Continuous Summary Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is seeking applicants for a 9-month tenure track position as a faculty member of the BSN program at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, starting August 11, 2025. The curriculum incorporates a commitment to nursing, health care, diversity, leadership, development of clinical judgment, QSEN, ANA, and professional growth. This position is reviewed annually for renewal. Essential Functions Primary Responsibilities: Facilitates learning primarily in the clinical, skills lab, and/or simulation lab by assessing the learning needs of the student, planning for the achievement of educational outcomes, implementing student learning activities and evaluating student achievement. Promotes learner development and socialization to the role of the nurse by providing resources to diverse learners and initiating appropriate referrals for students with academic difficulties. Participates effectively in continuous quality improvement, curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes reflective of evidence-based practice, the school philosophy, and the university mission and vision. Provides leadership for change to promote an innovative and effective educational environment. Provides direction to teaching assistants and preceptors who are supervising nursing students in the clinical area (if applicable). Utilizes teaching methods which are varied and appropriate for the learning outcomes desired. Facilitates learning in the classroom (traditional and/or online setting) as needed. Teaching expectations include clinical, simulation lab, skills lab, and didactic courses (traditional or online as available). Clinical and labs are all face to face. Clinical are offsite and will require driving to a variety of sites. Typical clinical hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Lab hours range from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Didactic course hours range from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Currently, all courses are taught Monday through Friday, but as the program grows, evenings or weekends may be required. The teaching workload for a tenure track faculty member is 60%. Grading of student paperwork is expected and may require evening or weekends to complete. Service expectation is 10% of workload for a tenure track faculty member. Activities include professional service, community service, committee representation at the School, College, or University level, and student recruitment activities. Scholarship expectation for this position is 30% of workload. Scholarship includes original research, publications in peer-reviewed journals, professional presentations, editor of books or journals, grant writing, or similar. Minimum Qualifications A terminal degree in nursing (or obtained by date of hire); if the terminal degree is not in nursing, a master's degree with a major in nursing; if the master's degree is not a major in nursing, a BSN is required from an accredited program. At least 2 years' experience as a Registered Nurse and an active, valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the United States or DC (an Ohio license or multistate license is required by time of hire). Additional Information Preferred Qualifications Certified Nurse Educator, previous teaching experience in a BSN program, simulation experience, experience in an academic setting, established research agenda, publications, nursing experience in critical care and mental health.
