Position Description

Scotty's Contracting and Stone, LLC is a subsidiary of Houchens Industries and participates in an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP). The Employee Stock Ownership Plan provides employees with a retirement through profit sharing.

Summary: This Construction Safety Coordinator position will service our Heavy Civil, Highway Construction and Asphalt Paving Operations. The successful candidate will partner with all Scotty's employees to ensure and promote safety first, along with holding safety meetings at various jobsites throughout the region. Implements Safety initiatives, improves safety performance, and ensures safety policies and procedures are aligned with governmental requirements. Conducts jobsite inspections, safety training and coordinates with Contractors/Subcontractors.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be available for daily travel within Central Kentucky & Northern TN region.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of Safety experience in construction environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Able to prioritize and coordinate multiple daily tasks and work within tight deadlines.
  • High School education or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 to 5 years experience with heavy construction equipment and excavation.
  • Associates degree in environmental, health, and safety or related field.
  • OSHA 510.
  • Experience working in multi-employer construction sites.

Skills

  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently
  • Strong influential, verbal, written, and analytical skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Good working knowledge and skill with a P.C. utilizing Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
