Job Title: QA Destructive Test Technician

Classification: Hourly

Department: QA

Reports to: QA Lab Supervisor

Shift: M-F 7-3:30

Purpose:

Utilizes manual milling, turning and cutting equipment to complete mechanical test specimens for required mechanical properties and testing

General Duties:

• Performs all tasks in a safe manner.

• Reads and interprets blueprints/key points

• Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.

• Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical mill, drill press, band saw, and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.

• Fabricates and shapes test specimens such as tensile bars, micro-structures for mechanical testing

• Ability to program machining lathe to meet test specimen tolerances

• Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks (filling oils) on equipment.

• Maintain sanctity of the work space through the enforcement of 5s principals.

• Ability to operate testing equipment as needed to ensure mechanical testing conforms to Customer specification

• Basic record keeping.

• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with various levels of leadership and the hourly work force.

  Skills:

• Required Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED

   

• Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on schedule.

• Follow Supervisors/Managers direction while displaying cooperative and positive behavior with co-workers.

• Ability to develop and execute a detailed daily plan.

• Strong Problems solving skills and efficient management of time and resources.

  Preferred:

• Prior experience in metals manufacturing environment.

• (3-5) Years past experience in quality or related field.

  Requirements:

• Sit/Stand/Walk 8 hrs./day

• Ability to lift 75 lbs.
