Western Kentucky University Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/ Professor in Public Health in Bowling Green, Kentucky

The Department of Public Health is accepting applications for a tenure-eligible faculty appointment at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor. We seek candidates who are qualified to teach social and behavioral competency-based courses, especially those related to health behavior theory, health inequality, foundation of public health, community organization, policy, leadership, program planning and evaluation, research methods and/or evidence-based approaches. Responsibilities include teaching diverse graduate and undergraduate public health courses; conducting and disseminating original research; applying for external grants and contracts; advancing a community-based public health research agenda; engaging in program, university, professional, and community service; and advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates with other public health teaching and research expertise will be considered, especially those related to current disciplines in the Department of Public Health and in the College of Health and Human Services, Applied Research Centers (https://www.wku.edu/chhsresearch/). There may be additional opportunities for MPH Program Coordination for the applicant.

Job Requirements:

Assistant Professor

  • Candidates must hold an earned PhD/DrPH, or be ABD, in a public health or a related field,

  • Candidates must hold at least one graduate degree from an accredited school of program of public health

  • Candidates must demonstrate competence in classroom and online instruction

Associate Professor

  • Candidates must hold an earned PhD/DrPH in a public health or related field

  • Candidates must hold at least one graduate degree from an accredited school or program of public health

  • Candidate must have at least 5 years teaching experience

  • Candidates must have a minimum of five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or hold a current rank of Associate Professor at their current or former institution

  • Candidates must demonstrate a record of research with a current public health research agenda and a record of funded research

  • Candidates must meet departmental, college and university requirements for associate professor

Full Professor

  • Candidates must hold an earned PhD/DrPH in a public health or related field

  • Candidates must hold at least one graduate degree from an accredited school of program of public health

  • Candidates must demonstrate competence in classroom and online instruction

  • Candidate must have a minimum of five years at the rank of Associate Professor or hold a current rank of Full Professor at their current or former institution

  • Candidates must demonstrate an exemplary and sustained record of research with a current public health research agenda and a record of externally funded research

  • Candidates must meet departmental, college and university requirements for professor
