Actalent Civil Engineer in Bowie, Maryland

Job Title: Civil EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing all aspects of engineering projects, including layout, grading, earthwork, storm drain, septic, sanitary sewer, water, stormwater management, and erosion/sediment control. You will perform field investigations, prepare agency design submission packages, participate in permitting, and create as-constructed/as-built drawings. Additionally, you will interpret and apply federal, state, and local codes, draft technical specifications, and occasionally travel to project/client sites.

Responsibilities

  • Design various aspects of engineering projects including layout, grading, earthwork, storm drain, septic, sanitary sewer, water, stormwater management, and erosion/sediment control

  • Perform field investigations to determine existing conditions

  • Prepare agency design submission packages for reviews and approvals

  • Participate with permitting and the completion of as-constructed/as-built drawings

  • Interpret and apply all applicable federal, state, and local codes

  • Draft technical specifications

  • Occasionally travel to project/client sites to complete tasks or attend meetings

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Minimum of 2-7 years of relevant design experience in site-civil engineering

  • Experience designing land development projects

  • EIT Certification or ability to obtain it within the next 6 months is preferred

  • BSCE from an ABET accredited engineering program

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with team members

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with site design, layout design, grading, and erosion control

  • Knowledge of sediment control, drainage, and wastewater management

  • Experience in municipal engineering, infrastructure, and water & wastewater projects

Work Environment

This is an in-office role with a small team of 5-7 people, with plans for rapid expansion. Our office has a very high retention rate and offers ample room for career growth.
