Boulder Valley School District Technician-Kitchen Equipment in Boulder, Colorado

Summary: The Kitchen Equipment/Refrigeration Technician is responsible for implementing and performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs for all refrigeration and Food Services commercial food service equipment districtwide. This position handles all urgent and emergency issues to ensure kitchen staff are able to prepare and provide equal access to meals districtwide. This position is responsible for effectively communicating and developing positive relationships with kitchen staff, community and school staff members.

Responsibilities: Troubleshoot, repair and install commercial food service equipment. Including, but not limited to: steamers, warmers, ovens, steam tables, dish machines, steam kettles, cook and chill tanks, skillets, slicers, coolers, freezers, baggers and mixers.

Develops, Implements and performs preventative maintenance on Food Services equipment. Including, but not necessarily limited to: steamers, warmers, ovens, steam tables, dish machines (culinary center equipment).

Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs commercial refrigeration systems, equipment, and components. Monitors temperatures in refrigeration equipment and emergency generator status remotely utilizing district software.

Develops, Implements, and performs preventative maintenance on commercial refrigeration systems & components. Coordinates with service contractors.

Assesses equipment needs, communicates with Facilities and Food Services teams, and purchases required repair parts and equipment.

Carries out oral and written directions. Accurately documents work performed on work orders defining problem and solution. Enters time worked and Work Order documentation accurately on district timekeeping and work order system platforms.

Communicate and coordinate problem resolution with schools, district staff and outside contractors.

Inspect all Type I commercial equipment hoods. Oversees compliance related to inspections, cleaning, and general maintenance, including Ansul system components.

Respond as essential personnel in case of an emergency, weather or environmental event, and/or school/facility/district closure.

Perform other duties as assigned.
