Job Summary

The Office of Admissions at the University of Colorado Boulder welcomes applications for a First Year Assistant Director of Admission, Colorado! This position is responsible for representing the University of Colorado Boulder to various constituents including prospective students, family members, high school counselors, on- and off- campus partners and community leaders. This individual will be responsible for assisting in the development of a recruitment strategy in a designated Colorado territory. They will execute a wide range of recruitment activities in the state of Colorado including high school visits, college fairs, area receptions and individual meetings. This position will evaluate domestic first year applications. A passion for results and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a team-focused and heavily performance driven environment are essential. This position requires an ability to build strong relationships with external partners and campus partners. This position will supervise a minimum of one Admission Counselor and possibly as many as three Admission Counselors.

As the point person for top scholar recruitment tactics, this individual will also take on a significant event-planning role. An ability to build strong relationships with current and prospective students and campus partners is critical. This person will train and lead recruitment staff on Top Scholar opportunities and develop a Top Scholar recruitment plan consisting of events as well as tactics; support an intersectional and inclusive view of what it means for a student to be considered a top scholar.

Additional consideration is given to applicants who are capable of translating materials and presenting in various languages, particularly Spanish. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Serve as the point person for Top Scholar recruitment tactics and lead/participate in event planning and implementation committees, including working with the Virtual and On Campus Visits team to determine event logistics, agendas, confirming presenters, as well as working with the Communication/Marketing Team to establish a communication plan.

  • Manage program budget for Top Scholar. Create and report annual data and analysis of scholars to Undergraduate Enrichment Department. Serve as a liaison to campus partners and manage partnerships with relevant external organizations related to top scholar recruitment.

  • Create a recruitment schedule and strategy both in person and virtually based on specific targeted high school throughout an assigned Colorado territory.

  • Represent CU Boulder to a broad range of constituents at college fairs, and other recruitment activities in this region. Regularly pull and analyze historical data to inform recruitment strategy. Identify new markets, establish contacts and maintain good working relationships with the high school counseling personnel and other institutions of higher education.

  • Extensive travel and sound fiscal management of university resources are expected. Advises and counsels prospects, applicants, and students on University admissions policies, procedures, and requirements.

  • Develop and maintain effective communication with constituents in the university, high school, other institutions of higher education, government agencies, community-based organizations and professional organizations regarding the admission of students to CU Boulder.

  • Manages, trains, supervises and evaluates at least one university staff member within the Colorado first-year team. As appropriate, may also supervise student staff. Participates in staff development and recruitment activities, including Admitted Student Day, Discover CU Boulder, and DIVE. This position is a member of the Admissions Supervisor team and will collaborate closely with our Virtual and On Campus Programs, as well as Access Team.

  • Evaluates domestic first- year applications for admission and supporting academic credentials and makes a final admission decision. Develops and maintains strong communication with constituents in the university, high schools, other institutions of higher education, and professional organizations regarding the admission of students to CU Boulder.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Should Know

  • This is a hybrid position with at least 2 days on campus during the week. Also some evening and weekend work required.

  • A valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle is needed to meet recruitment expectations.

  • We plan to hire/fill this position by early December.

What We Can Offer

  • The salary range for this position is $63,000 - $65,000 per year.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute;

  • Minimum two years of progressively job related and independent management experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;

  • Strong public speaking skills;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team;
