This position is part of the Gene Reading Components Product Innovation Team located in Boulder, Colorado, Coralville, Iowa or Redwood City, California and will be on-site. The Director, Innovation Product Management will be responsible for defining and guiding the execution of IDT’s gene Reading Components R&D pipeline across the New Product Development (NPD) teams. You will play a pivotal role in identifying unmet Gene Reading customer needs, translating those needs into groundbreaking products, and bringing them to market. You will also be a critical champion for our future products and our culture of innovation both internally and externally.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead a high-performing team of Product Innovation Managers, fostering a team culture of excellence and continuous improvement that prioritizes cross-functional business leadership, data-driven decision-making, and associate learning & development

  • I n partnership with Business Unit Leadership , lead thorough market research and assessments to understand unmet customer needs and technological trends and identify actionable new product ideas and roadmaps

  • W ith customer centric perspective, translate top new product ideas into detailed and clear product definitions that are compelling & competitive in the market and feasible for our Innovation New Product Development (NPD) core teams to execute on.

  • Contribute to the Innovation roadmap and maintain Incremental Pipeline Value (IPV,) and Innovation Growth metrics aligned with a multi-year Strategic Plan.  

  • Partner with Commercial Product Management teams to bring new products to market and drive excellent launches.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including R&D, Marketing, and Regulatory Affairs.

  • Champion a culture of creativity and collaboration across all stages of the product development lifecycle, from ideation to commercialization.

    The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological life sciences (biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, etc.), engineering and/or medicine AND 10+ years of experience OR an Advanced degree (Master's, PhD, or M.D.) in biological life sciences (biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, etc.), engineering and/or medicine AND 8+ years of experience w

  • At least 3+ years of experience managing people and teams. Experience building & coaching excellent product management teams and effectively managing change.

  • Proven track record of success in leading product innovation management within the genomics industry or a related field (e.g., Life Science, Biotechnology. Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals) , a deep knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing and PCR , and how new technologies get to market and what drives their success

  • Proven track record of success in leading product innovation management within the genomics industry or a related field (e.g., Life Science, Biotechnology. Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals) , a deep knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing and PCR , and how new technologies get to market and what drives their success

  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a strong track record of translating market insights into actionable product roadmaps amidst uncertainty and balancing technology, customer need, and market value in product decision-making

  • Strong collaborative leadership style, with a strong track record of driving results with buy-in within matrixed organizations

  • Extensive experience in effectively communicating complex technical information to diverse audiences and championing innovation cross-functionally

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • 5+ years of experience in product management and/or product development, with a strong understanding of the product development lifecycle

  • Specific experience and demonstrated expertise in Molecular Diagnostics, Oncology, and/or Infectious Disease

  • Experience partnering with ex ternal organizations (e.g., industry partners, Specialty Reference Labs, Academic Medical Centers) to deliver new product innovation

    The salary range for this role is $170,000 - $190,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

    This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
