Summary: We are looking for a Senior R&D Engineer for our test engineering team on Precision Guidance Technologies. The Senior R&D engineer will own a wide range of product development and test engineering scope supporting our contracted and internally funded programs. In this role, you will work with other team members to execute complex programs from concept through development, qualification and production. You will apply creative technical solutions through a high-level degree of engineering skills and principles including mechanical design, structural analysis, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics. Work will include the verification of product design through extensive test campaigns. You will plan out detailed test programs, hardware requirements and schedule to execute the planned activities. You will work with both internal and customer IPTs to plan, coordinate and execute test campaigns that will be conducted at GD-OTS and external facilities. Major Position Responsibilities Conducts research and development activities for an organization or business unit Applies research theories, principles, and models when conducting experiments and research activities Summarizes research results and communicates findings to internal and external bodies Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures projects are on time and within budget Develops technical documentations for all projects Basic Qualifications Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree in general Engineering or specialized Engineering 5-7 years experience relevant to the positions functional area Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Electrical engineering Strongly prefer Master of Science Degree in Engineering Working understanding of basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts including thermal and structural engineering Experience in planning and executing successful test programs for complex aerospace products. Ability to analyze test data and verify compliance against system requirements. Ability to work with other functional teams in the accomplishment of hardware development, fabrication, assembly and test Independently evaluate, select, and applied standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications for the solution to specific engineering problems Previous working knowledge of Creo, Windchill and Jira. Ability to translate general customer requirements into products, specific requirements and program elements Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong computer skills, administrative data control, scheduling and team interface Must be able to possess strong, planning, execution and multitasking skills and have demonstrated ability to re-prioritize on the fly Posi
