We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Botanist/Ecologist to join our team. The successful applicant will have a background in botany and expertise in identifying plants in the field, delineation of various habitat types, experience with writing botanical/vegetation survey work plans, resource reports, and preparing applicable resource sections for NEPA documents for a variety of projects in the Pacific Northwest and other western states. Your Role: The botanist will have the ability and experience to support complex projects in a dynamic work environment, have strong critical thinking capabilities, and a flexible approach to problem-solving. Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills are required. Must have demonstrated writing abilities, competency with basic business computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office), and possess the ability to act independently. This position requires a team-oriented professional with a strong attention to detail and a proven commitment to quality management and client satisfaction. The Planner should also have excellent communication skills as the position requires frequent and effective interaction with clients, regulatory agencies, other team members, and the public. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Botany, Ecology, or a related field, preferably with an emphasis in botany. 5 to 8 years of experience preferred; however, a master's degree in a related field may count towards the experience required. A strong background of coursework and/or experience in a natural science (e.g., botany, soils, wetland science, or ecology) and field data collection. A strong background of coursework and/or experience in botany and conducting fieldwork is important. Must have a minimum of 12 semester hours or technical courses in the area of plant identification, botany, rangeland plants, agriculture, or crop science. Staff performing field surveys must be able to identify and key out plant species (and habitats). They must also have knowledge of rangeland ecosystems and soils. Attention to detail, ability to work independently, willingness to work as part of a team, and the ability to stay positive and effective during long days in the field are critical. Applicants must be willing to work in sometimes difficult conditions, and often miles from the vehicle. Physical challenges typically encountered may include long off-trail hikes, steep slopes, extreme hot and cold conditions, and biological hazards (animals and plants). The successful applicant will be safety-conscious and continually assess ways to mitigate hazards. Applicant must possess a valid driver's license and have experience driving a four-wheel drive pickup truck on rough terrain. Data management and excellent communication skills are essential. Applicant must be able to work with and communicate with a diverse group of co-workers and clients to provide high-quality and efficient work products.
