About the Department of Conservation and Recreation: * The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages one of the largest and most diverse state parks systems in the nation and protects and enhances natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities throughout Massachusetts. The DCR system includes over 450,000 acres of parks, forests, water supply protection lands, beaches, lakes, ponds, playgrounds, swimming pools, golf courses, skating rinks,trailsand parkways. The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for the position of Seasonal Program Coordinator II– Land Records andGIS Technician. DCR’s Land Protection Office manages land records, in both paper and digital formats, for all DCR’s real estate holdings, including historic andpending landacquisitions. The DCR Plans Library manages the agency’s plans collections including land plans.As DCR settles into thenew headquarters building, and the agency’s transition to alargely digitalwork environment, the Land Protection Office and the Plans Library arecontinuing their datamodernizationefforts. The Land Records andGISTechnicianwill report to theLand Records and Database Managerand coordinate closely with the Plans Archivist and their respective staffs. *POSITION INFORMATION: Seasonal Program Coordinator II - Land Records and GIS Technician Start Date: 12/1/2024 End Date: 3/15/2025 Location: 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116 Number of vacancies: 1 Eligible for hybrid work schedule: Yes * *Please note, if you are selected for this position and will be working less than 90 days, the position will automatically revert to a short-term position. Our short-term positions are not part of the salary scale that is advertised within this job posting. Should this position revert to a short-term seasonal position (less than 90 days), your salary rate will be discussed with you during the interview phase of the process. Specific duties include: * - Moving and organizing Land Records from boxes used during moving into filing cabinets - Georeferencingsurveys andplans - Supervise Georeferencing Contracts to ensure quality andefficiency - Create spatial products using ESRI andGeoAI - Assist DCR’s Archeologyteamin the creation of the Native Lands Application. - Assistingin collecting field data - Assistingin workflow developmentand documentation - Working cooperatively with Land Acquisition and Protection Staff, Plans Library Staff & GIS Staff on a variety of projects as needed. - Other related duties asrequired. *Preferred Qualifications: * -Understanding and knowledge of real estate transactions and associated property records. -Ability to understand and read maps, plans, and surveys. -Familiarity and experience with GIS. -Proficiencyin ESRI products specifically ArcGIS Online. -Ability to update existing GIS data layers. - Familiarity with Microsoft office. *First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. * * MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the-required experience.* II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.* III.
