Boston Public Schools Stipend Opportunity: Augmentative and Alternative Communication Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Related Services Department or their designee STIPEND POSITION OVERVIEW: The Office of Specialized Services, Related Services Department) seeks current BPS Speech and Language Pathologists (SLP) with extensive Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) experience to complete individual student AAC consultations. The SLP will need to be familiar with AAC assessments, the SETT framework and Feature Matching. Additionally the SLP will need to be familiar with BPS SLP Assistive Technology protocols and procedures. This is an in-person opportunity that will occur primarily during the five weeks of extended school year (ESY) (7/8/24-8/9/24). It’s anticipated the position will take 5 to 10 hours of work a week. RESPONSIBILITIES: The AAC consultant will: Complete observation of the student within the ESY classroom. Work directly with the student to trial a variety of low, mid and high tech AAC devices to determine which tool best meets the needs of the student as part of the SETT framework. Complete all the corresponding consultation paperwork as outlined in the BPS AAC consultation framework. Upload the consultation report into the related services assistive technology drive upon completion. Upload all work into the assistive technology drive Keep a list of students that will need to begin AAC trials in September. The stipend will be paid per student at the hourly rate of $56.81 and once the responsibilities are completed for each student. QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED: Currently working in Boston Public Schools; Experience completing the BPS assistive technology process Appropriate licensure for administering assessment. " />
