Amazon Software Development Engineer 2, AWS Transfer Family in Boston, Massachusetts

Description

Come change the way the world sees the Cloud!

AWS Transfer Family service is looking for innovative software development engineer with a passion for solving challenging problems to join the team and help us take the service to the next level. AWS Transfer SFTP Connectors, which is part of Transfer Family, is a fully managed service that establishes a relationship for sending files and messages between Amazon storage and an external partner, using the SFTP protocol. Customers can send files from Amazon S3 to an external, partner-owned destination. Customers can also use an SFTP connector to retrieve files from a partner's SFTP server to Amazon S3. AWS Transfer Family Server enables the transfer of files directly into and out of Amazon S3 using SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol), AS2 (Applicability Statement 2), FTP (File Transfer Protocol), and FTPS (File Transfer Protocol Secure). AWS Transfer Family helps customers seamlessly migrate their file transfer workflows to AWS Transfer—by integrating with existing authentication systems, and providing DNS routing with Amazon Route 53—so nothing changes for your customers and partners, or their applications. With your data in S3, you can use it with AWS services for processing, analytics, machine learning, and archiving. Getting started with AWS Transfer is easy; there is no infrastructure to buy and setup.

On-Call Responsibility

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

Mentorship & Career Growth

Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. Our team has a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior engineers truly enjoy mentoring more junior engineers and engineers from non-traditional backgrounds through one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews.

We care about your career growth. We try to assign projects and tasks based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.

Inclusive Team Culture

Our team is intentional about attracting, developing, and retaining amazing talent from diverse backgrounds. Yes we do get to build a really cool service, but we also think a big reason for that is the inclusive and welcoming culture we try to cultivate every day.

We’re looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, empathetic, curious, motivated, reliable, and able to work effectively with a diverse team of peers; someone who will help us amplify the positive & inclusive team culture we’ve been building.

A day in the life

Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. Most days, our entire team is co-located in the Boston Seaport office, but we’re also flexible when people occasionally need to work remotely. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm (at least 3 days/week). About half of us come in earlier and the other half of us stay later.
