Deloitte Property Tax Senior Manager - Multistate in Boston, Massachusetts
We are looking for a sharp Senior Tax Manager to join our Property Tax team who is ready to assist in growing and maintaining one of the largest multistate tax practices in the United States.
The Team
Deloitte's Multistate Tax Services (MTS) group is one of the largest State and Local Tax (SALT) practices in the United States with more than 1,000 professionals nationwide. Our Multistate Tax professionals include former state tax auditors and administrators, industry personnel, tax practitioners, accounting specialists, and technology personnel with numerous years of multistate tax experience. Collectively, our team has significant experience with the requirements and nuances of jurisdictions in all 50 states. Our specific services include state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy.

Work you'll do
As a Property Tax Senior Manager within the Multistate Tax Services group, you will identify effective tax solutions for new and existing clients in various industry sectors. You will work directly with the client, have access to an elite group of specialists, and be connected to a strong support system from firm Leadership to ensure you are set up for success in your role and career.
Responsibilities will include:
Maintaining and developing strong client relationships on various state and local property tax engagements including property tax compliance, advisory services, planning, and controversies.
Identifying client needs and working with colleagues across the Firm in order to leverage Deloitte's full range of services and extensive resources to meet those needs.
Acting as a trusted business advisor to clients on a variety of property tax issues including complex, commercial, real, and personal property tax.
Analyze property tax considerations/impacts related to business restructuring or due diligence projects such as real estate transfer tax.
Managing engagement profitability, billings to clients, and engagement team resources.
Drafting and presenting proposals to new and existing clients.
Providing leadership, counseling, and career guidance for the development and motivation of the engagement team.
Performing high level reviews of complex property tax returns.
Qualifications
Required
Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week
8+ years' experience in property tax and in working with property tax assessors in at least one of these states: AZ, CA, FL, GA, IL, NC, OH, TN, TX
4+ years of engagement or project management experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, real estate or another related field
One of the following accreditations obtained:
Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
If not CPA eligible:
Licensed attorney
Certifications:
CMI (Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation)
Demonstrated experience developing and managing a book of business coupled and an established reputation as a subject matter expert within the property tax field in your market.
Experience with property tax compliance, tax planning, tax analysis, and tax research
Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred
Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax or JD and/or LLM.
Thorough understanding of OneSource Property Tax
Previous consulting experience from a large property tax practice.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $134,960 to $285,740.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
