Patient Service Representative, Per Diem, PASU

Job Description:

Patient Service Representative working Monday through Friday: fulfills reception duties, greets and directs patients and family, answers phones, communicates with physician offices, pages consults, order entry of all xrays and ultrasounds for diagnostic testing, creates daily charts with corresponding orders and paperwork, assists with high risk chart review and follow up, filing of patient orders, notes EKGs etc from surgeon offices and pre-admission screening testing and consultations, and follow up including cancelling no show patients and adding extra patients to schedule. Communicates with all departments interfacing with Pre-admission Screening.

Principal responsibilities :

  • Maintains medical record for preoperative patients.

  • Prepares and maintains a supply of chart set-ups.

  • Accurately and effectively utilizes order communication .

  • Maintains patient documentation and properly filing into apprpriate record.

  • Accurately collects and records data for QI initiatives.

  • Prepares and forwards all transfer charts, forms, and other patient information.

  • Requests, obtains and maintains patient records.

  • Obtains results from diagnostic testing and notifies Nurse Practitioner.

  • Notifies and/or schedules patient appointments with physicians for preoperative consults.

  • Obtains and maintains file of physician orders.

  • Maintains communication with OR Scheduling secretary regarding patient appointments.

  • Maintains communication with off-site NEBOCC.

  • Checks OR schedule 24-48 hours preoperatively to verify patient’s pre-screening visit.

High school diploma or equivalent required
