This role will develop clinical decision support (CDS) content using HL7 standards and technologies (e.g., CQL, CPG-on-FHIR, FSH, DQM). This CDS content powers applications to help clinicians order the most effective and appropriate medications and therapies at the point of care and to identify patients who may benefit from outreach to optimize their medical care. The ideal candidate will have experience working with HL7 technologies and has experience on the development of CDS applications for different health organizations. The candidate will provide leadership and participate in conversations across clinical, product, technology and architecture teams, while also having hands-on experience in commercial software development and clinical decision support application development that can serve several clients. It is expected that within 2 months of onboarding, the person in this role will independently lead the development of CDS content across projects.

Primary Responsibilities:
Independently author and deploy CDS artifacts (recommenders, population-level digital quality measures, patient stratification) using CQL and FHIR
Contributes to the shared ownership of a product to ensure the CDS problems are being solved adhering to HL7 standards to meet customer needs
Provide leadership on architecture and technology teams to determine how to develop CDS software solutions that meets the customer needs while adhering to the different HL7 standards, implementation and specification guides
Collaborate and provide leadership on different projects with external stakeholders that are using these standards and CDS platform components
Provide training sessions to internal and external teams on developing CDS artifacts

Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in commercial software development and implementation, including software development tools (e.g., GitHub) and methodologies (e.g., Agile)
2+ years of experience in developing clinical decision support content
Experience using standard medical terminologies such as ICD-10-CM, SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm
Proficiency with a structured programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Java, or Python)
Proficiency with using the JSON data representation
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in integrating CDS into a commercial EHR, e.g., Epic
Experience using FHIR resources
Experience in Clinical Quality Language (CQL)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
