Job Description

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. has multiple openings for an Interior Designer I to be based in Boston, MA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline engineers.

  • Develop complex interior design drawings in a BIM delivery environment from concept to construction administration.

  • Assess problem situations or complex design issues and use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.

  • Full understanding of the design process.

  • Fully understand the purpose and use of vendor documents, review them for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

  • Review discipline supplier documents and other discipline’s supplier documents for accuracy.

  • Fully understand contract delivery processes including Design Build, CM at Risk, Design Bid Build, in both traditional and fast track multiple package/contract delivery.

  • Apply business development concepts and principles, to provide support for proposals.

  • Prepare designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.

  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to Designers and Technicians.

  • Review completed work with design and drafting personnel responsible for its completion to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design data.

  • Advise the Interior Design Director/Leader about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, delays, and adverse problems.

  • Provide on-site assessments of project sites and conditions to evaluate qualitatively and quantitative existing conditions and identify opportunities for design within client parameters.

  • Assist with the planning and scheduling of design tasks associated with assigned project. Interpret industry codes, permits, and standards, and ensure design and drawing compliance.

  • May telecommute.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field. Position also requires completion of a university-level course / research project / internship / thesis, or 6 months of experience in each of the following:

  1. Revit with Enscape;

  2. 3D Visualization Software including Sketchup, Rhino or similar;

  3. Hand Sketching;

  4. Contract Drawings;

  5. Interior Design and Interior Finishes;

  6. Egress; and

  7. Diagrams and renderings of design including photorealistic enhancements with Adobe software products.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $61,143.89 - $107,001.80.
