Boston Public Schools Culture, Climate & Operations Manager [Managerial Tier C] (SY24-25) in Boston, Massachusetts

Reports to: Principal Responsibilities: This individual will be first in command at a satellite 6th grade program and therefore, must have a proven success record of working with staff and students with diverse learning profiles, strengths and needs. The hired candidate must have the skillset to develop and implement systems that will ensure a highly effective and well-functioning organization. The hired candidate will oversee the staff on-site and must be able to work collaboratively with staff in a variety of roles. This includes coaching staff on how to engage students and supporting the implementation of culturally sustaining, restorative practices.. The hired candidate must be able to conduct disciplinary hearings for students and staff and work closely with the principal, paraprofessionals, and other staff (COSE person, classroom teachers, etc.). He/she/they will also participate on the Support Team, Family Engagement Team and Climate Team to meet the school vision. This individual must have a minimum of three-years teaching experience or comparable. School Operations Support Drive the creation and maintenance of school operational systems that support high quality instruction and family engagement including the consistent implementation of a safe, inclusive and welcoming school climate and restorative practices. Ensure alignment between the QSP and the school's operational structures and processes Manage and participate in the system of daily duties (i.e. entry, lunch, dismissal) Drive fidelity of school culture systems across the school, including behavior management and more. Contribute and support the evaluation of non-instructional and support staff. Provide day to day oversight with staff around climate/safety and operations. Family and School Community Partnerships Work Serve as the day-to-day contact person for grade 6 families regarding operations, climate and site management. Explore partnerships with area institutions and professionals to provide meaningful enrichment to students. Work with Climate Director to coordinate professional development opportunities for staff. Build connections with families and students in grades 4, 5 and 6 to ensure continuity and coherence. Qualifications - Required Bachelor's degree Experience working with inner city youth in urban setting 3+ years of full-time work experience; 1-3 years experience preferably in an education or non-profit related organization Demonstrated passion for and commitment to the school’s mission, core values and educational model Commitment to the success of all students Flexible and able to multitask Can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems Willingness to work autonomously, collaboratively, and/or under the direction of senior staff, as needed Strong written and oral communication skills Extensive knowledge of social media platforms/tools and emerging new media Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Drive Suite Comfort and familiarity with student information databases (Aspen, SIS, etc) Qualifications - Preferred A postgraduate degree in a relevant field of study is preferred 1-3 years experience preferably in an education or non-profit related organization Terms: Managerial Tier C Please refer to www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohc http://www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohc" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohc&source=gmail&ust=1656771516306000&usg=AOvVaw2zQ2gLEAp1kGgWpqjAgjlz (under "Employee Benefits and Policies") for more information on salary and compensation. Salaries are listed by Unions and Grade/Step. NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency requirement. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
