Core Responsibilities

  • Key advisor to the Americas’ marketing organizations, providing expert legal advice on marketing campaigns, including ensuring compliance with COPPA, CARU guidelines, FTC Influencer Guidelines and other relevant regulations.

  • Securing alignment between the partner’s needs and legal services, and managing expectations.

  • Identifying and building working relationships with leaders and decision-makers across the organization.

  • Collaborating closely with commercial stakeholders to provide guidance on commercial, corporate and retail law matters.

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating marketing and advertising agreements, including creative service agreements, professional services agreements, freelancer agreements, sponsorship and promotional agreements and influencer agreements, as well as other commercial agreements.

  • Advising on the creation of content, promotional events, digital marketing initiatives, social media campaigns, contests, sweepstakes, and promotions with an eye to safeguarding the company’s interests while maintaining legal and ethical standards.

  • Assisting in the protection of the company’s intellectual property rights in the marketing context.

  • Staying abreast of changes in laws and regulations affecting marketing practices, including regulations related to digital advertising, marketing to children, privacy and online safety laws impacting targeted advertising, biometrics laws, and emerging social media regulations, as well as other retail and commercial laws and regulations.

  • Completing and coordinating all legal work requested/needed.

  • Developing and providing training to Americas business units on relevant legal issues, including but not limited to Marketing, Intellectual Property, Stewardship, Compliance and Ethics.

As part of the global Legal, Compliance and Risk function, you will be part of a team dedicated to managing legal issues critical to the LEGO Group’s Americas Market Group. You will serve as a primary legal contact for marketing matters in the Americas and will be located in Boston, Massachusetts. In this role, you will provide expert advice to key stakeholders on marketing campaigns and content creation, negotiate related agreements, mitigate critical risks and drive compliance in order to safeguard the company’s interests and help the LEGO Group reach more children.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Law School Degree (J.D., LL.M.).

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of (postgraduate) legal experience from an in-house role at a global company or mid-level private practice position.

  • Background in commercial law and providing legal advice on commercial and marketing matters.

  • Experience in global or high-value brand organizations.

  • Experience with retail law, consumer protection, contract law, intellectual property, antitrust, data privacy and compliance.

  • Strategically-and commercially-minded with a true partnering approach.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Great written and verbal communicator with strong legal drafting skills.

  • Great at collaborating across local and global teams.

  • Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally in a fast paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • An appetite for and ability to learn new skills, as well as the willingness to follow-through on tasks.

  • Highly collaborative, with a curious mindset and a “can do” approach.Some travel expected (likely less than 30 days per year).Additional details on this position.

Additional Details

  • This position will initially be based at 501 Boylston St, before moving to a new office location at 1001 Boylston St by the mid-2025. Our hiring teams will discuss this with you during the interview stages.

  • The salary for this position has a range of $97k- $146k a year, based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer. (Only for US, salaried roles)
