_About the Organization:_ The Division of Occupational Licensure (DOL), an agency within the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR), protects consumers by making sure the professionals they hire comply with state licensing laws. DOL oversees 26 boards of registration, which license and regulate more than 500,000 individuals and businesses to practice over 100 trades and professions. DOL also licenses and regulates the Office of Public Safety and Inspections (OPSI), and the Office of Private Occupational School Education (OS). The Division of Occupational Licensure is committed to ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel respected, valued, and empowered to maximize their skills and talents to serve our citizens. _About the Role:_ The Building and Engineering Support Specialist (Office Support Specialist II), is responsible for providing administrative support to the Office of Public Safety and Inspections, Building and Engineering Division. TheBuilding and Engineering Support Specialist works closely with the Building Division, Bureau Trades, the Amusement License program, and the Hoisting Exam Licensing program. TheBuilding and Engineering Support Specialist will support the engineering division by providing support for the in-service training program, the appeal of exams and violations and providing responses to DOL requests for reports generated from the software systems. TheBuilding and Engineering Support Specialist supports the Building and Engineering Division by entering data into the various software systems, assists in processing permits, responds timely to all telephone and email inquiries, assists the public and DOL staff with inquiries. The administrative duties will include communication with architects, engineers, builders, licensees, DOL staff and other program participants. Duties and Responsibilities: (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive) * Assist Engineering staff, or OPSI Licensing Staff, as needed, to ensure exam applications for the Bureau of Pipefitters, Refrigeration Technicians, Sprinkler Fitters are reviewed and are included on the Bureau agenda, and are processed into the exam program if approved. * Provide administrative support to the Building and Engineering Divisions. * Assist with entering permitting and licensing applications into IPS. * Make necessary and appropriate MLO entries including to the approved school list and provide updates to the Engineering webpage. * Provide administrative support for the following Engineering programs: in-service training programs, Compact rental programs, continuing education program, Amusement licensing program. * Provide support for the appeal of exams and hoisting license violations including working with constituents, updating and entering data into various software programs * Respond and correspond to constituent and applicant questions. * Assist with document retrieval requests. * Maintain a functional understanding and execution of all Building and Engineering IPS entries including navigating through Amusements, Manufactured Buildings, Complaints, Certificate of Inspections, Building Permits and all associated reporting. * Provide support for the appeal of exams and Hoisting license violations. * Respond and correspond to constituent questions, post appeal notices, agendas, minutes. * Assist in coordinating inspection schedules. _Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:_ * Ability to communicate effectively. * Ability to write concisely, express thoughts clearly and develop ideas in a logical sequence. * Ability to use proper grammar, punctuation and spelling. * Ability to make recommendations. * Ability to multi-task and prioritize. * Ability to prepare documents and reports accurately. * Ability to assist customers of diverse backgrounds. * Ability to follow guidelines and procedures. * Knowledge of software applications such as desktop publishing, project management, spreadsheets and database management. * Ability to work independently and in teams. * Organizational skills. * Based on assignment, the ability to supervise and assign work effectively. * The non-negotiable annual salary for this position is $58,587.36 (NAGE Unit 1, Grade 17A, Step 1).* __ _All applicants should attach a cover letter and resume to their online submission for this position._ First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. An Associate's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
