This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, staff position.

This is a grant funded position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Technology, Business, or related field required.

  • Two (2) years of experience in project management, business development, or outside sales experience with demonstrated record of success in closing the sale.

  • Possess impeccable verbal and written community skills.

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • Excellent team and collaboration skills required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.

  • Proficiency in programming languages and program logic controllers (PLC), preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.

  • Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.

  • Must be capable of sitting in stationary position for 50% or more of time.

  • Occasional travel required in an automobile for up to 5 hours at a time with some overnight stays.

Job Concepts

The individual in this position will be responsible for the creation of workforce solutions programs and services with a manufacturing and/or engineering technology focus that lead to direct sales to new and existing businesses, industry organizations, and civic groups. The Project Developer is also responsible for researching the feasibility of a proposed program or service, writing proposals or reports to establish a program or service, and coordinating the implementation of approved programs or service proposals, to include but not limited to preparing quotes, invoicing, creating classes, recruiting and retaining qualified instructors, and client-relationship management. The Project Developer will gain a comprehensive understanding of funding processes and workforce training programs offered by BPCC to promote the existing programs and to identify gaps in BPCC program/service offerings. This person will also be required to direct the project developer activities with a manufacturing and/or engineering technology focus to the Division and the College, as a whole, by actively developing strategic activities and partnerships that will increase enrollment, revenue and visibility of the College.

Examples of Work

Sales:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers to facilitate services to clients and the good will of BPCC.

  • Make daily sales calls to current and potential customers of BPCC as well as maintain adequate sales call records.

  • Provide client and market feedback to BPCC Leadership regarding program development ideas and strategies.

  • Knowledgeable of both academic and non-academic programs to drive increased enrollment and revenue.

  • Deliver presentations to sell and promote workforce training programs and services to businesses and industries in the region.

  • Accountable for closing of the sale.

    Management of Grant Funded Projects:

  • Author and create sales proposals and grants that address the strategic needs of the customer.

  • Manage the grant closing process.

  • Responsible for monitoring; facilitating and expenditures to meet grant objectives and deadlines.

  • Demonstrate solid time management skills with the ability to respond and act quickly are essential.

    Communication/Reporting:

  • Seek and furnish market analysis or advice to departmental staff.

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal team at BPCC.

  • Understand capabilities, costs, and goals to get desired results within BPCC.

  • Communicate information to management, production, sales team, or any other group, as appropriate, to maximize BPCC’s success in the industry.

  • Seek and vet new instructors for Workforce training courses.

  • Prepare project proposals and associated reports.

    Computer Skills:

  • Create and utilize Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to perform job duties.

  • Utilize institutional software program and coordinate processes to set up Workforce training courses in Manufacturing and/or Technology, record income from training courses, and track completers.

  • Engage in use of technology (Salesforce, Constant Contact, Adobe Acrobat, Banner) to improve efficiency, data management, communication, and project management.

    Financials:

  • Be responsible for timely collection of monies owed to BPCC and provide lien data to the Finance Division as appropriate.

  • Establish grant budget for compliance, monitor expenditures, and reconcile financial statements.

    Other:

  • Join and participate in industry-related associations and represent BPCC in such activities.

  • Develop, plan, and coordinate special organizational events that highlight BPCC and the Division.

  • Travel, both in and out of state, with overnight stays.

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
