The Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) has an exciting opportunity for an administrative professional who wants to have an impact on the administration of Idaho's public water resources. IDWR is filling a Technical Records Specialist 1 position at our state office in Boise. Boise, Idaho’s capital city, is a growing urban center located near public lands and ample recreational opportunities.

To support IDWR’s mission, the successful candidate will be a part of a collaborative team managing the orderly allocation of Idaho’s water resources. The successful candidate will receive, organize, process, and maintain records for the Water Rights program. The person in this position will also compose correspondence, respond to public inquiries about water rights, and provide front desk customer service support.

Example of Duties

  • Manage documents and records related to water rights

  • Create mailings, scan and archive documents

  • Process notices of ownership and address changes to water rights, review and route water right applications

  • Answer phones and research and answer customer questions regarding water right processing and IDWR programs

  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, and written correspondence

  • Perform general office and clerical support services

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors

  • Experience researching a variety of sources to resolve problems

  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying rules, regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments

  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system

Desired Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Experience using spreadsheet software; storing, retrieving, and compiling information in a report format using database software.

  • Experience using word processing software to create and modify documents
