As a Sr. Manager of Supply Economics, you will drive thought leadership and standard methodologies around both macro and micro-economic principals. You will turn trends, news and events into substantial and actionable strategies. You will have a deep knowledge of the value chain and the economics of industry verticals. You will own the development of competitive insights for the procurement organization to leverage in their strategies and negotiations, including near-term and long-term disruptors. You will provide training and mentor on micro and macroeconomic frameworks and how they practically apply to spend categories. You will bring deep intuitive understanding to published market and supplier intelligence.

As a pioneer in this new capability, enjoy the autonomy to innovate, define new areas of focus, and discover novel methods to assist the Procurement team in navigating the intricate macro and microeconomic factors that influence spending. You will collaborate with our internal should cost and analytics teams to build capabilities, connecting economic trends and dynamics to model outcomes. You will also work with other groups such Treasury and Business Operations to connect Procurement insights to upstream inputs and outcomes.

What’s Encouraged Daily:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive suite of economic models to analyze the interplay between Micron’s proprietary data and pertinent economic or industry data.

  • Actively communicate trends and risks and provide mentorship on interpretation and actionable insights to the organization.

  • Empower procurement partners with crucial tools and platforms for data-driven decision-making; offer consultation in preparing negotiation strategies and fact packs.

  • Influence the development of contracting strategies by using economic data to advise decision-making processes.

  • Establish predictive capabilities to anticipate major economic shifts that could impact procurement strategies.

  • Identify and articulate key themes and insights that drive different market segments and assess their potential impact on Micron.

  • Facilitate educational events such as fireside chats and open forums to train the organization in applying economic trends and data and contribute to the overall content of Procurement training.

  • Build a range of approaches to manage commodity risks and other fundamental costs, including labor markets.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations and training on economic principles as applied to our purchases to a wide range of users covering the entire spectrum of economic sophistication.

  • Undertakes special economic analysis and research projects for multiple countries.

  • Collaborate with the business analytics and smart manufacturing teams to develop a database for maintaining, tracking, and reporting key cost data in relation to global economic trends.

  • Formulate and implement a tailored market intelligence strategy for procurement, specifically crafted for the semiconductor industry.

  • Work in tandem with internal data science and cost program teams to deliver comprehensive economic insights across various procurement categories at Micron.

How To Qualify:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in demonstrating big data insights within a dynamic environment to address practical challenges

  • Exhibit a profound understanding of econometrics, multivariate statistics and economic principles

  • Demonstrate passion for learning new analytical methods and tools

  • Have a passion for educating others and storytelling through data, with a keen curiosity about supply chain dynamics.

  • Experience working with macroeconomic data and analyzing economic trends, as well as a strong grasp of the relationships between different sectors, markets, and regions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and works well on teams of all sizes with representatives from a diverse set of technical backgrounds.

  • Prior experience in consulting with or working inside a major procurement organization
