As a Global Supplier Manager (GSM) at Micron, you will have the unique opportunity to manage a large strategic supplier or suppliers, contributing to Micron's world-class memory and storage solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with team members across multiple categories to ensure high-quality supplier support when providing goods and services. Your expertise will be crucial in driving supplier strategies to optimize cost, supply, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Management

  • Participate in commercial supplier qualification activities to ensure the commercial development of strategic suppliers

  • Lead all aspects of and manage cross-category and significant company-to-company escalations; provide assistance with category issues for assigned suppliers when necessary.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned supplier(s) and share knowledge with relevant team members to enhance planning, forecasting, and execution.

  • Collaborate with the category team and relevant individuals to develop a comprehensive understanding of supplier performance.

  • Communicate key supplier management updates and decisions to multiple levels in the organization, including Executive Leadership

Cost Management & Analysis

  • Identify and evaluate category-specific savings/revenue levers

  • Drive category savings/revenue and scorecard metric targets

  • Deliver market insights and updates on category price trends to internal teams who need it.

  • Use cost estimation models for assigned categories that are benchmarked and relevant to the global marketplace.

Negotiation

  • Collaborate across categories to ensure unified negotiation plans

  • Lead or participate in negotiations for contract extensions and renewals, renegotiation of prices, transfers, etc.

  • Lead sourcing events/RFQ process into bundled negotiation

  • Incorporate savings targets and contract requirements into negotiations

  • Develop a contract strategy for suppliers in assigned categories and create, negotiate, monitor, and enforce contracted terms and conditions

Business Partnering

  • Collaborate with team members to deliver strategic solutions

  • Develop and maintain expertise in the assigned supplier(s) through relationships with Category Director, Global Category Managers, and Category Supplier Managers

  • Drive a customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing Procurement

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant Procurement experience

  • A relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in category management and strategic sourcing.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively manage relationships with various individuals involved.

  • Advanced skills in material cost structure understanding and analysis.
