Consultant, please conduct a seated interview. Applicant must have 3 months of experience. Farmworker/Laborer, Location: Othello, Washington, Period of Employment: 04/25/2025-11/15/2025. Job Duties: Crops: Onion, Carrot, Kale, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Corn, and Hay. These crops listed may or may not be planted and employer is not limited to only these crops listed. The Workers will be tasked to hand weed the above referenced crops in organic and conventional fields. Kale, Broccoli, and Cauliflower: Plant, cultivate and harvest vegetables. Use hand tools including, but not limited to shovels, hoes and knives. Plant roots, seeds and bulbs. Spread plastic or other ground covering. Clean plastic by hand from ground upon removal. Till soil. Weed and thin plants. Transplant plants by hand. Stake/tie plants, trellis/prune plants, and set poles and wires for vine plants. Pick, cut, lift, or pull crops. Tie vegetables in bunches. Take care to prevent damaging produce and plants. Workers will remove debris from harvest crops. Worker must possess 3 months of experience; weeding onion, carrot, and broccoli; topping onion; and, detasseling and rouging corn. Applicants must be able to furnish a written statement establishing relevant prior work experience. Onions: Pick up and empty onion sacks. Weed onion fields and top onions with knife. The Worker must take care to prevent damaging produce and plants. Workers will remove debris from harvested crops. Bending, stopping, and kneeling required. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws. Lift and carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Place hay in fields. Corn: Under the direction of a supervisor, workers will walk down the aisles between the rows of plants in corn fields for the purpose of detasseling seed corn, and/or removing/destroying rogue corn plants. The worker, in order to perform this kind of work must be able focus on quality (i.e. the quick and efficient, complete removal of all tassels and/or rogues in their given row) while working in all weather conditions especially hot, wet and humid conditions. Workers must be in possession of the requisite strength and endurance and tenacity, working quickly and skillfully with their hands (hands positioned anywhere from below waist level to above head level). Must be able to carefully and without losing balance, walk/move along very uneven, hilly, soft, or wet ground for extended periods of time. The employer will provide the tools necessary (if applicable) to perform the job described without charge to the worker. Work is done in the field for long periods of time. Workers may assist in handling products weighing up to 50 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet. Workers must work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking. Work required in fields when plants are wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from 10 to over 100 degrees F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker\'s ability to perform the job. Mow, cut, and weed fields. Perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Bending, stooping and kneeling required. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs.Workers may also:\ - Repair farm buildings, fe ces, and other structures. - Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping. - Plant, spray, weed, fertilize, water, and prune plants, shrubs, and trees, using gardening tools. - Set up and operate irrigation equipment. - Regulate greenhouse conditions, and indoor and outdoor irrigation systems. - Maintain and repair irrigation and climate control systems. - May perform hay bucking. - Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting. - Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops. - Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress. - Direct and monitor the activities of work crews engaged in planting, weeding, or harvesting activities. Workers may also: - Drive farm trucks or vehicles to transport crops from the field to storage on the farm. - Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities. - Drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools, or farm workers. - Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer\'s fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. - Operate trucks to carry farm equipment, crops, and workers.
