Location: This is a fully remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office)

About the Team

The Advanced Placement Content and Assessment Publications team supports College Board in serving more than seven million students a year as they prepare for a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success - specifically through the Advanced Placement (AP) Program. With more than 38 courses in a variety of subject areas, we are committed to promoting innovation, equity, and excellence for generations of students.

The AP Content and Assessment Publications team develops a variety of publications from course descriptions to practice exams for teachers of the forty AP subject areas (comprising curricula in mathematics, arts, English, science, world languages, and social sciences) and resources related to the development of new AP courses. We are a close-knit, dedicated team with a track record of success in producing products and publications for a variety of audiences, including students, parents, educators, member organizations and staff.

About the Opportunity

As the Director, Product Development and Editorial, you will guide the launch of new and revised AP courses by shaping and managing various products and publications (e.g., Course and Exam Descriptions, Lab Manuals, Practice Exams). You will guide the content creation conducted by other team members, vendors and/or consultants as needed. You are a driving force in the team\'s efforts to meet deadlines and refine processes. You will ensure that AP Program policies, processes, information, and resources are communicated clearly, accurately, and consistently.

In this role, you will:

Content Development and Management 50%:

  • Manage and collaborate with Program Staff and Subject Matter Experts on the creation and development of new and revised curriculum and assessment products and publications for select AP classes
  • Implement and adhere to processes and timetables, editorial guides, review and quality control protocols, and other standards needed to ensure uniform and high-quality product development and delivery
  • Provide guidance on design and formatting of publications as needed; previous experience using Adobe InDesign is strongly preferred.
  • Develop standards and enforce consistency in instructional practice, structure, design and terminology

Project Management 50%:

  • Work with other teams across the AP division in developing requirements and resources to ensure alignment
  • Ensure all products are fair, bias-free, and in alignment with AP Course and Exam Descriptions (CEDs) and other relevant documents and standards
  • Assist in a variety of program management tasks related to AP publications and communications, including tracking and monitoring program publication budgets; coordinating program components with other departments/divisions/consultants; preparing reports and recommending adjustments in policies and procedures, and supporting efforts to continuously improve communications planning, content development, and production and distribution processes

About You

You have:

  • Minimum of four years effective and relevant work experience in publishing in an editorial or design capacity
  • Experience in managing content across multiple channels (print and digital media) preferred
  • Experience in the development of curricula or instructional materials
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational, time and task management skills and the ability to move forward multiple projects in concert while meeting timelines, both independently and as a member of the team
  • Adept problem-solving skills, including using data to inform decisions and actions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitating meetings and presenting remotely and in-person
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Communications, Publishing, English or related field
  • Willingness to travel 3-5 times per year or \< 15% for in-person meetings/gatherings
  • Authorized to work in the United States
