Micron Technology, Inc. Construction Instrumentation Trades Coordinator in Boise, Idaho

The Facilities Construction Trades Coordinator at Micron Technology, Inc., is responsible for coordinating all aspects of an assigned project while working in a team environment with contracted services and other construction and engineering subject areas. The Facilities Construction Trades Coordinator ensures each project is completed within scope, on schedule and within budget. In addition, the Construction Trades Coordinator is responsible for Instrumentation contractors and communicates the priorities for all daily activity. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Safety & Quality:

  • Ensures contractor team finishes the required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policies

  • Stops work for safety if unsafe conditions and/or behaviors are identified

  • Ensures the team follows job hazard analysis (JHA/JSA) for work being performed in their area

  • Ensures the team follows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws including PPE, CoHE (lockout /tagout) and chemical safety

  • Follows-up on safety and quality related issues immediately and works towards resolution with customers

  • Actively participates in the EHS program by reporting all EHS-related concerns or problems immediately (maximum 24 hours)

  • Performs and facilitates audits and submits good catches

  • Ensures team always wears appropriate PPE, per JHA, supervisor, EHS professionals, and/or job designation

  • Proactively finds opportunities to reduce potential hazards which may impact personnel health and/or the environment

  • Ensures the use of proper lifting techniques and works in an ergonomically correct manner

  • Follows proper organisational change practices to ensure safety and quality expectations are met

  • Drives quality improvement initiatives in their area of expertise to reduce Fab impacts, improve efficiency and drive cost savings

  • Ensures specifications, standard and checklists are aligned with corporate guidelines

  • Leads system solving efforts when requested

  • Leads lessons learned type activities per area of expertise

  • Ensures the review of assigned designs confirm they are within manufacturers and company guidelines to ensure safety and quality expectations are met

  • Owns content of construction specifications, design standards and design checklists that ensure quality, efficiency and safe work

  • Ensures all workers on equipment have proper training and certifications where applicable

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Partners with key customers to develop solutions to continuously improve critical metrics

  • Coordinates with team members and leaders on issues and changes, and provides regular status updates

  • Provides a high level of service with strong customer focus and builds effective links with supported teams

  • Demonstrates strong partnering, negotiation and collaboration skills

  • Proactively seeks and provides feedback to internal and external management regarding the quality of work being performed

  • Generates and incorporates ideas from others to influence or enable key strategic objectives

  • Actively participates in applicable department meetings

  • Takes ownership of personal performance and development goals

  • Communicates proactively with leaders and collaborators on the daily priorities and issues

  • Partners in data collection, gap analysis, and improvement implementation

  • Proactively communicates issues that could cause Fab impact, defects, tool restrictions, or lost moves

  • Broadens cross-disciplinary knowledge through new assignments

  • Uses questioning skills to better understand customer needs

  • Interprets customer needs to identify potential opportunities

  • Provides advice and guidance to less experienced team members

  • Collaborates with partners in the design, installation, and startup of new construction and remodel areas

  • Collaborates with all Micron regulatory groups, such as Legal and EHS on projects

Project Management/Planning:

  • Uses a systematic project management methodology to develop, prioritize and lead projects

  • Handles projects to ensure work are completed within the required scope, schedule and budget

  • Supervises actions and provides critical issue path or resources to ensure actions will be completed on time

  • Defines and leads sophisticated, multi-disciplinary projects of critical importance to Micron

  • Ensures regular communication to collaborators of project status, roadblocks, and path to success

  • Ensures that project scope meets requestor needs

  • Collaborates with consultant resources

  • Coordinates and leads meetings and initiates follow-up actions

  • Follows organisational change procedures

  • Works with appropriate personnel to address problems or make corrections

  • Provides support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval

  • Performs project cost estimates and provides input for cash flow

  • Coordinates the project requester’s needs, and the engineering and trades construction schedules and work loads

  • Oversees and leads projects from initial consultant selection to close out, which could include high value projects

Technical/Data Analysis :

  • Analyzes systems data to make critical decisions, improve performance, gain efficiency, and drive cost savings

  • Provides effective and timely guidance to resolve issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolution

  • Provides solving support for complex and addresses root cause

  • Performs problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies

  • Supports risk and/or failure mode and effects analysis

  • Eliminates single points of failure and mitigates risk

  • Provides consultation and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Manufacturing, and other department/sites

  • Partners with key customers to identify gaps and opportunities for efficiencies

  • Leads or supports benchmark activities on operational, procedural, engineering, facilities systems

  • Maintains applicable subject area knowledge

  • Supports a culture of TPM

  • Uses administrative databases as vital in support of job tracking, data, capital equipment facilitation, and critical system loads and capacities

  • Incorporates safety controls in every aspect of the design, enhancement, and modification process

  • Anticipates potential utilities and/or operational issues which may negatively impact production

  • Supervises the construction contractor staff and ensures quality outcome of project

  • Provide construction decisions at project work site

  • Provides construction status reports

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills with ability to solve sophisticated problems and address root causes

  • Strong understanding of funding approval process and a working knowledge of project estimating systems

  • Ability to read and understand P&ID’s, I/O Data bases & Instrument data sheets

  • Knowledge of instrument calibration, set up and loop tuning

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Journeyman or Masters electrical license or Instrumentation Technician certificate from a certified Instrumentation program and 5 years work experience with industrial control systems
