As an Advanced Modeling Engineer at Micron, you will employ techniques and theories drawn from areas of computational mechanics, semiconductor science, materials science, and engineering to build predictive stress/strain models and provide concrete insights and solutions.

This role will interact with experienced Advanced Modeling Engineers, PI, Process Engineers, and IT teams to identify questions and issues for modeling projects and improvement of existing modeling methods and platforms. In this position, you will help develop algorithms, and automated modeling solutions. There will be significant opportunities to perform exploratory and new solution development activities.

The Advanced modeling technologist will be responsible for large-area 3D structural mechanics modeling across multiple DRAM and NAND nodes. The modeling engineer will collaborate extensively with PI and process teams for thermomechanical model development, deployment, and providing solutions to be implemented on Si.

In this role, you will develop methods, processes, and systems to build predictive fracture mechanics model to generate useful insights and solutions. You will interact with process engineers and PI teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments. Develops and codes software programs, algorithms, and computational modeling tools. Identifies significant insights from modeling and data; interprets and communicates insights and findings from analysis and experiments to engineering teams and leaders.

What you will bring to Micron:

  • Experience in computational solid and fracture mechanics modeling

  • Advanced skills in FEA analysis, RVE, and global/local models

  • Experience with Silvaco tools, Ansys, Abaqus

  • Established skills in large-scale 3D stress models for hotspots

  • Experience with user documentation, reports, and presentation to managers and leaders

  • Predict on structural challenges ahead of Si

  • Handle face-to-face interactions with all internal partners/collaborators

  • Strong software development skills

Requirements for this position:

  • BS, M.S., or PhD Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.

  • 5-10 years of proven industry experience.

  • Knowledge of memory device structures and processes.

  • Proven expertise in large-scale 3D stress and global/local models.

  • Solid Python experience.

  • Excellent communication skills.
