Actalent Application Engineer in Bohemia, New York

Job Title: Application Engineer

Job Description

  • Engage with Sales and Business Unit teams to provide pre-sale and post-sales technical support for all product lines with a primary focus on Power Distribution, Power Generation, Motion Control, including relevant new technologies.

  • Support New Product Development from the design phase through mass production.

  • Develop application expertise in target markets for new product development.

  • Understand Customers’ requirements and participate in new product definition.

  • Evaluate technical aspects of competitor’s products and develop strategies to deal with competitive issues.

  • Provide technical training on new products and technologies to customers and sales personnel.

  • Serve as technical liaison between the customer, product managers, and manufacturing teams.

  • Involves learning new technologies to support the technical requirements of new products.

  • Become subject matter expert, Power Distribution, Power Generation, and Motor Control products.

  • Develop and Maintain Product documentation (data briefs, data sheets, white papers, application notes).

  • Answer technical questions in a timely fashion and resolve technical objections.

  • Systematically funnel customer data to the business unit teams and marketing for inclusion in product roadmaps.

Hard Skills

  • BSEE Degree

  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory such as Ohm's Law

  • Knowledge of circuits, resistors, capacitors, MOSFETs

  • Troubleshooting skills over the phone and in person

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Bohemia, New York.

Work Environment

Full hands-on design engineering and manufacturing company. The primary environment is the Engineering team, which sits more in an office/cubicle environment. Candidates will be able to see products both made and tested. They will be given exposure to the entire operation and how it operates. The team currently consists of 2 people but is growing, creating the need for this position. The company has taken on more business, driving a greater need for additional team members, and this should be the first hire of a few more to come.
