Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic will maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment at the Plant and Port Warehouse. This role is responsible for on-shift equipment and facility maintenance, repair, and on-the-spot troubleshooting support. As part of the Maintenance Team, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic will work to improve equipment efficiency and throughput by supporting improvement projects and performing preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

  • Perform on-shift equipment and facility maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting support.

  • Support improvement projects to enhance equipment efficiency and throughput.

  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure machinery and mechanical equipment remain operational.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or post-secondary certificate required.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience repairing industrial equipment.

  • Ability to become forklift certified is required.

  • Ability to obtain HACCP certification.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.

  • Desire to problem-solve and continually improve products and services.

  • Willingness to work long days with flexibility in work hours and location.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with maintenance technician work, mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, electrical maintenance, and blueprint reading.

  • Familiarity with food production maintenance.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. It is expected that all safety policies and procedures are followed and enforced in such situations.
