GROB Systems, Inc. Mechanical Engineering Designer in Bluffton, Ohio

This position requires working with lead designers in the AutoCAD and NX design of CNC machining centers, automation, and robotics. The ideal candidate must be motivated and want to work with others to design equipment. Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs (3-D models) for the manufacturing of metal cutting machines, grippers, press stations, robotic cells, assembly machines, and automation.
  • Provide mechanical designs primarily for automotive customers. This involves the total coordination of all systems and components to ensure the efficient operation of metal cutting machines and assembly equipment to meet the design intent and final approval of the customer.
  • Execute industrial calculations (static, dynamic), interpret and analyze technical drawings, and define components, mechanical diagrams, and specific tools for manufacturing and assembly.
  • The design work includes overseeing the detailing of the design, completion of all assembly drawings, and the ordering of any special purchases. In addition, the task will also include controlling and developing the planning document for determining all motion control components and function/cycle time diagrams.
  • Tasks will include controlling changes needed to the designs due to customer part changes, manufacturing, and assembly issues. Individual will be required to find solutions to all and any problems from the design phase up through customer runoff.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years' Mechanical Engineering design experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to comprehend 2-D drawings.
  • Proficient use of AutoCAD (2020 and higher).
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, material science, manufacturing processes, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of ISO, DIN standards, and metric system.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge of static and dynamic mechanics.
  • Proficient use of NX is a plus
