Reports to: Manager Application Engineering Location: Blue Bell, PA Job ID: 20494 Recruiter: Paul Cenci Position Summary: The End-User Industries Application Engineer will grow SKF business as the technical thought leader in strategically identified market segments, while providing comprehensive Engineering support. The Application Engineer is responsible for defining the technical needs of our end-users and translating them into an SKF offering.  They promote the SKF know-how and value proposition in line with corporate and industry segment strategy, working closely with Sales and Customer Service as part of the responsible Account Team. They manage technical relationships with customers, responding to inquiries, handling complaints and evaluating technical risks. Job Accountabilities: Provide technical support for all product platforms to customers as well as field sales and customer service. Support existing activities, develop new technical solutions, maintain/establish technical contacts, provide technical insights, and generate opportunities within an assigned account base. Proactively drive the technical agenda with end-user customers to establish brand preference for SKF. Identify and manage technically oriented projects including high value platform integration solutions. Be the technical specialist/resource within the Industrial Sales Unit for SKF products and technologies, through relationships with global subject experts. Define the end-user technical voice and drive it throughout the entire SKF full value chain. Provide product training and technical support to internal and external customers. Technical support will include application review, bearing system selection and verification, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and damage analysis. Customer interaction will include on-site customer visits in addition to phone and email communications. Resolve or mitigate impact of customer rotating equipment bad actors through making solution recommendations of both the surrounding system and bearing components. Job Education, Desired Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or comparable degree). 5+ years application experience in an industrial environment, calling on customers, preferably in focused industries (Pulp and Paper, Metals, Mining, Mineral Processing, Cement, or Food and Beverage). Bearing or rotating equipment focus. Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and manufacturing process knowledge. Proven track record of proactive and continuous improvement. Demonstrated ability to think strategically with demonstrated drive and passion. Excellent spoken and written communication skills. Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Outcome oriented, critical thinker capable of prioritizing to achieve results. Motivated self-starter with careful attention to detail. Travel approximately 40% of the time as customer need dictates.
