Sheet Metal Technician
Job Description
The Sheet Metal Technician will be responsible for installing and maintaining all sheet metal across the campus, with the majority of work focused on hand railings. Additionally, various campus facilities may require sheet metal installation or fabrication.
Responsibilities
Perform sheet metal repairs on mobile or stationary equipment.
Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts, using hand tools and portable power tools.
Install door hinges, panic bars, thresholds, motorized projector screens and mounts, and toilet partitions.
Maintain kitchen equipment, roof gutters, and overhead doors.
Install and repair roofing and flashing materials.
Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets.
Fasten seams and joints together with welds, bolts, cements, rivets, solders, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonds to assemble components into products or repair sheet metal items.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in MIG/TIG Welding
Experience with sheet metal fabrication and installation
At least 2 years of experience in MIG/TIG welding
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with roofing, particularly TPO roofing
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Skill in using hand tools and portable power tools
Work Environment
The work environment is based out of a Fabrication Shop. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders and stairs. The role also requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 75 pounds and potentially work during inclement weather when weather emergencies dictate the department's need to take care of the campus. The shift for this position is Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomington, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.60 - $34.00/hr.
Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in Bloomington,IN.
