GENERAL STATEMENT
The Assistant Mechanic/General Laborer performs preventative maintenance, basic building maintenance, general labor, and groundskeeping work as assigned. The Assistant Mechanic/General Laborer is responsible for any other assigned functions deemed necessary by supervisors. The Assistant Mechanic/General Laborer will report to the Chief Maintenance Foreman. In the Chief Maintenance Foremans absence, the Assistant Mechanic/General Laborer will report to a designated Maintenance Foreman.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs preventive maintenance common to a wastewater treatment facility.
Performs basic building maintenance including but not limited to maintaining plumbing, heating and cooling systems, and painting.
Performs general labor in support of maintenance and operations functions.
Performs groundskeeping work including but not limited to mowing, trimming, landscaping, and snow removal.
Documents field observations, work progress, job hours, and parts or materials used in Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software.
Works with all District employees and vendors in a cooperative and professional manner thereby reflecting positively on the District.
Complies with District personnel and safety policies.
Maintains work area neatness and cleanliness.
Demonstrates proper care and respect for all District tools, vehicles, and other District property.
Subject to emergency call-ins, mandatory overtime, and changing shift schedules as Departmental needs require.
Performs other duties as assigned.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily in an environment common to a wastewater treatment facility. May involve exposure to a variety of operating mechanical equipment and loud noise and/or noxious odors. This may include working in all types of weather conditions throughout the wastewater treatment facility and collection system. May use standard office equipment, computer terminals, smartphones, or tablets.
