Job Title: Project Engineer

Job Description

Our mid-sized commercial general contractor client is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to join its metro-Detroit team. The Project Engineer will work with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Trades on unique projects that have a direct impact on the community. Project Engineers will experience a mixture of office and field work and be responsible for a wide range of duties, from ordering and securing materials and deliveries to tracking quantities, reviewing submittals, RFI’s and other critical communication, and helping the Project Managers and Superintendents in all areas where support is needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and process critical documents like submittals, RFIs, and other project communication.

  • Provide support to Project Managers and Superintendents in various areas.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of project plans, specifications, requirements, and contracts.

  • Assist with document control, estimating, correspondence, expediting, problem-solving, labor cost reporting, and scheduling.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors for on-time and accurate material deliveries.

  • Prepare and distribute project communication such as submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, and more.

  • Continuously learn and implement industry best practices and innovative solutions.

This person will be working onsite for multi-family projects in Detroit. A lot of their projects are low income housing and government funded/municipal projects. 90% are in downtown Detroit.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and some days remote.

Work Environment

Average hours are 8am-5pm; Salaried position. 45 hours/week roughly in office, at home, and on job sites in a hybrid capacity. Business attire. No jeans.
