Business Unit Overview

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for examination of product to ensure quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. Requiring a high level of attention to detail, the QA Tech is responsible for strictly adhering to the organization's quality policies, and identifying defects and/or production errors in order to prevent these materials from entering the supply chain.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform equipment calibration Perform swab test Retain sample Collect microbial test sample Pre-op check Routine line check (labels, package, raw material, coding, sealing, metal detection) Perform lab test Review and verify operator check sheets to ensure accuracy of information Record filing Cover duties of other QA technicians in their absence Monitor implementation of GMP and quality related SOP(s) at production floor level; assist with staff training Segregate problematic product Assist in customer complaint investigation Report any food safety/ quality issue and GMP non-conformance Monitor QA supply level and restock supply when needed. Take responsibility for own performance and complete work in a timely, consistent and accurate manner. Demonstrate reliability and time management through attendance, break times and other related duties. Perform other functions/activities as assigned from time to time. Education & Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

2 years’ experience working in a similar role in a food manufacturing setting preferred Basic GMP; basic microbiology an asset Detail-oriented, quick learner, possesses good judgment and interpersonal skills Flexibility to accommodate rotating shifts including weekends per the production schedule An organized problem-solver, able to prioritize effectively Ability to learn our business and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment Basic computer skills; Windows MS Office. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; a second language is an asset.

Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: Frequent use of chemicals and other cleaning agents using appropriate and recommended PPE Frequent walking Standing for up to 12 hours Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs. Occasional bending, twisting, kneeling
