State Hospital South (SHS) inBlackfootis offering an excellent opportunity for a part-timeSecurity Officer Senior(24 hours per week, benefits available). We are seeking individuals who are dedicated to supporting our mission of strengthening the health, safety, and independence of Idahoans.

This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff, buildings, and grounds, including responding to emergencies and performing related duties as needed.

The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekend and holiday shifts, and may involve midnight, swing, and day shifts.

This announcement may be used to fill full-time, part-time, and temporary positions. Temporary positions are limited to working 1,385 hours in a 12-month period for any one state agency. Employees are eligible for benefits if they work twenty (20) hours or more per week and the term of employment is expected to exceed five (5) continuous months.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace.   Any applicant offered employment in this position at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Investigate campus incidents such as thefts, vandalism and assaults.

  • Write up and file reports with authorities.

  • Participates with local law-enforcement officers in investigations.

  • Maintains chain-of-evidence in criminal cases by cataloging and securing evidence.

  • Escorts campus personnel transporting large sums of money.

  • Serves as back-up or fill-in for security staff.

  • Develops positive working relations with patrons and facility staff.

  • May perform parking enforcement duties.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Good knowledge of building security procedures: Typically gained completing training related to building security measures and related security issues AND at least one year of experience performing building security.

  • Experience applying fire and life safety hazards: Typically gained by approximately one year experience identifying and reporting fire and safety hazards.

  • Experience evaluating and handling disturbances and security emergencies reading, applying, and following written and oral instructions: Typically gained through training in crowd control and emergency response AND at least one year experience performing this type of work on a job.

  • Experience writing business reports, investigative reports, or detailed documentation

  • Experience typing or using a Keyboard
